Atari arcade game commercial - Dig Dug 02:25

The commercial was part of Atari's first nationwide ad campaign - "Get Out And Sell Hard Show". Entertainment Tonight did a segment on the making of it, which you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6t8dk51HhmY Here's the (partial) credits for it: Manny Perez - director Kathy Erskine - creator/supervisor Young & Rubicam Advertising (now called Y&R) Jerry Cammisa - producer Ralf D. Bode - director of photography (Dressed To Kill Coal Miner's Daughter) James Spencer - production designer, head of special effects crew from Poltergeist The commercial won a Clio award (http://www.clioawards.com/) back in the day, and it was the 1st arcade video game to be advertised on the big screen - according to an April 1983 article in Videogaming Illustrated (pg. 22): http://www.2600connection.com/library/magazines/vg_ill/vg_ill.html Toby "y-bot" Wickwire was kind enough to transfer this long-lost commercial from 16mm film for us. The song in the commercial was originally written and performed by Chubby Checker. A cassette tape of it was recently found by Matt Osborne, who is the son of Atari's former VP of Marketing Don Osborne (article - https://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/listen--chubby-checker-s-long-lost-dig-dug-song-192445689.html;_ylt=A0LEVwyIygdUMRIANhdXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTEzYmwycWd1BHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMgRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkA1NNRTY1NV8x). The reason for why the Chubby Checker version wasn't used is unknown and possibly lost to time.
