Spring Movies to Get Excited About

Traditionally the months around Christmas are a peak time for movie premiers. There is a rush to release films in time to quality for the Oscar nominations so the movie offerings over the winter can almost be overwhelming. That can make spring a bit of a let down as there are few big movies released. Fortunately, in 2018 there are already a huge number of movies preparing to premier in time to entertain us this spring. Excitement is already building for a number of films that look particularly promising for spring. Check out these movies belong and prepare to catch them as they appear in movie theatre over the next few months.

  • 1.Black Panther

This latest movie from the Marvel Comics universe is already shaping up to be a blockbuster. Black Panther is another Stan Lee creation but expect more from this movie. Rather than simply adding another hero to the Avengers, this movie reveals a whole different world that is home to the Black Panther character. The early reviews and previews of this film have already prompted record-setting ticket pre-sales in some areas. It’s time to break out your favourite super hero costume and lifesize cardboard cutouts to begin celebrating this huge milestone in the Marvel movie franchise.

  • 2.Red Sparrow

Jennifer Lawrence looks fierce and determined in her new role as a part of a Russia spy “Sparrow” programme. Expect excitement as she faces off with the CIA and her Russian handlers. There should be plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat along with an exciting story line to take this beyond the realm of a typical action movie.

  • 3.Lara Croft

Tomb Raider fans will be excited to see this restart of the Lara Croft franchise. This time, Alicia Vikander plays Lara Croft and we start off seeing her as a struggling 21 year old working as a bike messenger in London’s East End. Rather than an established explorer, she is still trying to find her way and solve the mystery around her father’s death.

  • 4.A Wrinkle in Time

Oprah Winfrey is part of an all-star cast in this adaptation of the 1963 fantasy novel by Madeleine L’Engle. This classic book is being brought to the screen by Disney. Rated PG, this story features children crossing between worlds so expect breath-taking cinematography in this family-friendly movie.

  • 5.Animal Crackers

Not to be confused with the Marx Brothers movie of the same name, this animated film aims to be great for the whole family. It features a dad who is struggling to make ends meet in a dead-end job. Then there is an unexpected inheritance of a rundown circus and the discovery of a magical box of Animal Crackers. This gives him the ability to become any of the animals from the box. Voice actors include Emily Blunt, Danny DeVito, and Sylvester Stallone.
