Description
Standing guard with a tall ornate spear, this playing card soldier cardboard cutout is a stern-faced sentry whose body is a giant Ace of Hearts. A large red heart with gold scrollwork fills the card, with an A and a small heart printed in two corners. Polished red and gold armour studded with brass rivets covers his shoulders and arms, and a peaked red helmet topped with a heart-shaped crest sits above his serious, sideways glance. Chunky red armoured boots complete his uniform.
Created for the Alice's Wonderland Characters range, he is inspired by the walking playing cards in Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, who serve as the Queen of Hearts' gardeners and soldiers. A card guard like this sets the scene for a Wonderland theme straight away.
Post him at the door as a sentry so arriving guests can salute him for photos, or line him up beside the croquet lawn at a Wonderland themed garden party. As a party prop he also works as a backdrop figure for a school play, a card-themed casino night or a Halloween party. Place the included mini tabletop cutout on a card table or cake stand.
